Colorado was the first state to make abortion legal, now they might be the first state to make it illegal.

The article can be found here.

Now I had no idea that Colorado made it legal before Roe Vs Wade. Though they must have changed their views. I hope that they can vote the bill into law, but I am shocked that the Denver Archbishop is staying in the sidelines.
I think that would cause an outcry. Or at least it should.

You can try to contact the Archbishop at:

Denver Archdiocese
1300 South Steele Street
Denver, CO 80210

Phone: 303-722-4687

Email: info@archden.org

Whats your opinion?

Archbishop Chaput of Denver is a very good bishop, IMO, anyway. He consistently stands up for life and for the faith, and the traditional Mass is flourishing in CO. (When I lived there, I had a choice of THREE parishes and 7 Masses to go to - and that was WAY before the Motu Proprio forced US Bishops to allow it!)

I think they are staying out of the fray because whenever they become politically active front and center, the enemy coalesces and clouds the issue with "seperation of church and state".

Also, the diocese CAN'T spend their financial resources on it... the financial resources belong to the people of the diocese and are already spoken for.

So my take is that just because the bishop is not prominently promoting the amendment, it does not mean that the bishops are not quietly supporting it through prayer and with their resources. The Denver archdiocese gives LOTS of money to Catholic charities, Mary houses, and crisis pregnancy centers, who ARE actively working for it.

And, BTW, the Colorado Right to Life is very rigid - so much so that they seceded from the National Right to Life! CO prolife politics is very complicated!

FYI - Brian Rohrbough, president of American Right to Life, is the father of one of the victims of the Columbine shootings.

One other note - if you contact the Archbishop, SIGN your name! He detests anonymous comments, but will almost always personally reply to emails and letters if they are signed!

I hope it works. You know that if they do defeat Roe vrs Wade, there is a very good chance that other states(the more conservative ones) will probably soon follow.
